FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install another softphone app?

No. Everything happens in the iNdex Voice app (Android) or the iNdex Voice web app. You never need a third-party softphone.

Which phones are supported?

Android 8.0 or newer today. An iPhone app is on our roadmap. Any modern desktop browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) can use the web app.

Do calls use my airtime?

No. iNdex Voice calls use your internet connection — mobile data or Wi-Fi. A typical call uses roughly 0.5–1 MB per minute.

Can I keep my existing business number?

In many cases, yes. Request a port in the portal under Phone Numbers and our team will guide you through the paperwork with your current provider.

Can callers see my personal cellphone number?

No. Outgoing calls from the app show your business number.

What happens if nobody answers?

Calls follow your routing: for example to another team member, a ring group, or voicemail. You choose the ring time and fallbacks.

What happens outside business hours?

Calls follow your after-hours setting — usually voicemail. Public holidays are supported too.

Can I record calls?

Yes, on plans that include recording. It's off by default. Before enabling it you must confirm that you will inform callers and comply with applicable law; an announcement can play automatically.

Can I call emergency services with iNdex Voice?

Not at this time. Always use your mobile network or a landline to call emergency numbers such as 10111 or 112.

Is there a contract?

No. iNdex Voice is prepaid and month to month, and your 14-day trial lets you test everything before you pay anything.

How do I pay?

Like airtime: the account owner tops up call credit in the web portal by card (Yoco) or instant EFT (Ozow). Your monthly plan and calls to phone numbers are paid from that credit, and we email you when it runs low. No debit orders.

Where is my data stored?

Your account data is stored with reputable cloud providers and protected with encryption and strict access controls. See our privacy policy for details on processing and your rights under POPIA.
